As a consultant, I need to be able to take in the big picture. No one should believe that they can get by as only an engineer, or an architect, for example. We need to expose ourselves to as wide a range of thinking as possible. In my case, as an electronics engineer in the built environment, I find that the control and automation of buildings involves just about every science and every professions imaginable. That is why I belong to so many organisations, a few of which are listed below.
I am an active member of these organizations – I proactively seek out others with similar interest as myself, and I find they often belong to other Professions. So the “cross pollination” of ideas is critical to my thinking.
